Maintenance Engineer (Electrical).
Responsible for undertaking preventative, and reactive maintenance and emergency repairs on all equipment and machinery. Lead for any electrical maintenance and repairs on site.

with 30-minute paid break and one-hour unpaid lunch
Key Responsibilities:
Maintenance – Preventative and Reactive
- Be an ‘Expert’ of knowledge for department and business, taking a lead on all electrical maintenance and repairs on site.
- Liaise with the Maintenance Engineer, Operations Manager and Supervisors to schedule routine/planned maintenance.
- Liaise with external service repair providers to ensure servicing is kept in line with agreed contracts and that the paperwork is received and stored correctly.
- Induct and supervise contractors who attend site.
- Install new machinery and equipment.
- Undertake scheduled maintenance for all equipment and machinery.
- Make recommendations to the Operations Manager on the purchasing of new equipment and machinery.
- Plan maintenance calendar, ensuring that all routine checks and maintenance is carried out in a timely manner and to schedule.Report any issues or delays to maintenance to the Operations Manager.
- Respond to breakdowns, diagnosing faults and seeking external support where necessary, quarantining faulty or unsafe equipment until safe to use.
- Identify appropriate suppliers of specialist components and liaise with purchasing to place orders.
- Maintain an adequate stock level of spare parts and consumables within department, ordering resources as needed.
- Maintain all equipment in good working order ensuring that it is fit for purpose.
- Investigate and record the root cause of breakdowns and equipment failures, notifying the relevant Supervisor/Line Manager when equipment or machinery is damaged due to operator error.
- Provide insight, coaching and training to prevent recurring damage to equipment caused by operator error.
- Where possible, modify defective equipment to prevent faults recurring.
- Undertake minor preventative maintenance to ensure that forklifts are in good working order and report any defects to the Operations Manager.
- Undertake repairs, maintenance and modifications to steel moulds for casting concrete products.
- Maintain a clean and safe working area, ensuring that all tools and equipment are stored safely and in the correct place.
Inspections
- Daily inspections and preventative maintenance of concrete batching plant.
- Daily inspections of all forklifts.
- Daily inspections of Staddle Carrier.
- Weekly inspections of all lifting equipment to ensure that they remain compliant with
- LOLER Regulations.
- Schedule and arrange annual PAT Testing.
- Health and Safety (H&S)
- Adhere to all health and safety practices and procedures across production, workshop and the business.
- Attend Toolbox Talks to keep up to date with any changes to health and safety legislation, process and/or policy.
- Report any health and safety concerns or incidents and accidentsMaintain correct Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) needed for the role, reporting and defects or additional PPE that may be needed.
- Promote a positive health and safety culture and report any health and safety concerns related to equipment, machinery and maintenance to H&S and Operations Manager.
- Provide feedback and recommendations for improvements to health and safety to H&Sand Operations Manager
Systems Development
- Create and maintain equipment register.
- Implement and maintain a maintenance schedule for all equipment.
- Recommend, implement and develop innovative ways to improve systems and processes, taking a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
- Create, implement and review Maintenance related Standard Operating Procedures
(SOP’s).
Other Responsibilities:
- Undertake any training and development as required by the business.
- Attend meetings as required by the business.
- Undertake ad hoc projects as required by the business.
- Work with the Senior Management Team and other Stakeholders to implement company policies and procedures and targets.
- Any other duties as required by the business.
Knowledge, Experience & Technical Skills:
- Qualified and experienced Electrician with City & Guilds Level 2/3 in Electrician Installation and Maintenance.
- Experience of hydraulics (preferable).
- Experience of preventative maintenance in a production/manufacturing environment.
- Experience of reactive maintenance in a production/manufacturing environment.
- Good knowledge of health and safety regulations and guidelines.
- Good knowledge of MS packages including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Excellent communication skills, good attention to detail and be able to prioritise effectively.
- Have a proactive continuous improvement mindset and be able to coach and support colleagues across the business.
- An enthusiastic engaged attitude and eagerness to help JKH to continue to grow as a business.
